In the 1930 Census records it is interesting to note that Rufus had a nickname of Bill, written down as William by the
census taker, and that the second house down the street lived George Parker and his familly; George is the
brother to Minnie's dad Luther Parker so in 1930 Dad was living next door to Mom's cousins. Also interesting to
note is that Rufus dad had died before this time and that his grandfather John was living with the family or that his
family was living with grandfather John.

Rufus said his name was changed to Bill when in W.W.II by US Army.(Army ID 6996617) Was in the Normandy
Invasion and when he was discharged he came back from Belgium. His mom died while he was in W.W.II. Buried in
a cemetery named _____ on route __, the main road between Bluefield VA,W.Va. and Princeton, WV. Interesting to
note was that the name Bill was used from then on with purchases of vehicles, land and on his Social Security and
check he received later at retirement.

His dad must have died while he was a young child, as he will not say anything about him. In 1922 may have lived
at 434 Greener Avenue (1920 Census of Graham) and his dad was not mentioned in the 1930 census.

Rufus Henry Hyatt AKA Bill Henry Hyatt, Sr. Born  4:08 PM, Saturday, 05 Aug. 1922 at Graham, Clear Fork District,
Tazewell County, Virginia. Certificate of birth #47349, Registration District No. 921, Registered No. 70, West Ward.
B. to a white American married couple, John Rufus Hyatt (Hiatt) age 54,  and Callie May Linkous his second wife
age 21. John was b. in North Carolina while Callie was b. in Virginia.

His dad John was registered as a merchant owning a store in Bluefield, Va. and Callie was registered as a
housewife with 4 other children at that time. (1922). Hid dad was a hero of sorts as when the depression hit he
provided food to many families knowing that he would never be paid for the food.

He was an electrician working on neon signs and doing sign painting before he entered service at WWII. After
service he was an electrician and member of the International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers (IBEW) Union.

Bill (Rufus) told his son Bill (Jr.) that he was  Married 25 May of 1946 to Minnie Lois Mariar Parker by a judge in
Bristol Virginia. He wanted to get married in Bristol Tenn. but not enough time for a judge to work them in on the list
that day. He said Minnie caught his eye when he was looking out of his window (lived upstairs over their store) and
saw that cute woman walking through the field next to his house and he wanted to meet her. Well, they met, married
and had this wonderful group of children. We are forever indebted to them as not only our lives were started by
them but the lives of our children and our special grandchildren and their generations for ever to come.

THANKS MOM AND DAD FOR MAKING US POSSIBLE, WE LOVE YOU DEARLY.
