AVP, Ameicus Ves Peus Hiatt, died in 1863 of consumption in Snow Hill, IN. He left a wife and three young children. His wife, Hannah Andrew, became responsible for the legal rights of the children when Samuel's estate was setteled n 1865 or 1866. Then Hannah moved to Valisca, IA with her father. THis was the last westward settlement of the specific Quaker community the family was part of.
AVP and Hannah had three children. She did not remarry. She died in Alva, OK in 1904 and was buried in Iowa. I am decended through their son ALonzo A. or P. Hiatt. In a willin the back of a pocket watch that Samuel willed to his Grandson Alonzo it is shown as Alonzo P. Hiatt. My father knew his grandfather as Alonzo A. Hiatt. One of dad's brothers, Alvin A. Hiatt, was named after his grandfather. Alonzo married Lucy Etta Tilbury. They had two sons, "Mack" and Elbert Clarence. I have not been able to fidn out what "Mack's" legal name was. I can get you the details of Elbert Clarence's descendants if you do not have them and want them.
Alonzo had two sisters. One Sarah Jane Hiatt married Agusta Linquist when she was in her 40's. THey had no children. They are buried in Pawnee, OK. They owned the first steam laundry there. The other sister, Ida Belle Hiatt married a Crouse and stayed in the Valisa/Clarinda, IA area. I very recently acquired contact with a great great granddaughter.
Also let me knwo if youi are interested or if you already have the inforamtion on the family lines that were missing from the first book.
Butch Hiatt.
